Thailand Tax Identification Number (TIN)
What - Where - When - How?
What:
Every resident in Thailand needs a tax number, also known as a TIN (Tax Identification Number). This number is required for many procedures in Thailand and is increasingly being requested by European banks.

Where:
The TIN is issued by the local Revenue Department in the area where you reside in Thailand.

When:
It is recommended that anyone who knows they will live in Thailand as a resident for more than 180 days proactively applies for a TIN. There is currently no specific regulation that sets the exact timing for the application.

How:
To apply for a TIN, you must visit the Revenue Department in Thailand with the required documents. These documents include a residence certificate from the Immigration Bureau or alternatively the yellow house book, your passport, and a 12-month bank statement from a Thai account showing the interest earned during those 12 months.
